Membership of the AFITA is divided into two categories – Full Members and Associate Members.
Full members are the substantial prime wholesale suppliers, manufacturers and importers, or their accredited representative, of self-powered industrial trucks actively and continuously conducting business in Australia.
Associate members are major suppliers of ancillary equipment for, or major hirers of forklift trucks supplied by members.
An organisation is eligible to be a FULL member of the Australian Forklift and Industrial Truck Association (AFITA) if it is a substantial prime wholesale supplier, manufacturer and importer or accredited representative of self-powered industrial trucks actively and continuously conducting business in Australia.
Where no national prime supplier is physically present in Australia, a brand shall be eligible for membership through either offshore entity or a single primary dealership in Australia or a collective of dealerships representing that brand.
An organisation is eligible to be an ASSOCIATE member of the AFITA if it is a major supplier of ancillary equipment for, or major hirers of forklift trucks supplied by Full members.
Major hirers shall be independent of Full members, shall ideally be national organisations providing equipment to end users and shall not be part of a member’s dealer network. Ideally they will have a national focus (operating in more than two States/Territories) and have a minimum of 150 units in operation.
The council may elect to consider and approve Associate Membership applications from organisations which do not meet these criteria but demonstrate a substantial involvement in the industry.
